The Fantastical Encyclopedia of the Domina Magna
Below you will find a selection of images from the visual encyclopedia depicting the mysterious world of giantesses. The images were originally created for my thesis at the School of Visual Arts MFA Illustration as Visual Essay program in 2017. The project culminated in a 13 x 19 inch hand-bound book, filled with sixty pages of digital illustrations, including laser-cut, UV printed, and vellum pieces.

This book is a visual introduction through scientific observations into the secret world of giantesses – from their magical, anatomical anomalies to their social-cultural traditions and lexicon. They may not be visible to us, but their voices and actions are clear, loud and strong, and their impact does not go unnoticed. The inspiration for my project originated with an intention to want to draw extremely formidable, larger-than-life women unafraid to take up space, both physically and mentally.
